The state of Rajasthan is renowned for its arid deserts and hot weather. However, a farmer from the state has defied the odds by cultivating aloe vera in barren land.
Harish is a resident of Chelak village in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Years back, when he saw the potential in cultivating aloe vera, he commenced his journey as a farmer.
Born in 1989, Harish is the only brother among five sisters. His father, Ruparam is a retired Chief Engineer. Harish also holds a degree in engineering.
In 2013, Harish secured a government job, but he was not satisfied with it. Subsequently, he decided to pursue farming.
Harish began cultivating aloe vera, pomegranate, olive and other crops on 562 acres of land.
Harish was able to reap immense profits from aloe vera crops alone. Currently, he has 20 lakh aloe vera plants on his land. Reportedly, he makes around Rs 2.5 crore annually.
