Sindhu Ganapathy has made history by becoming the first transwoman TTE (Travelling Ticket Examiner) in Southern Railways.
Sindhu Ganapathy was born in Nagercoli, a small town in Tamil Nadu. In the year 2003, she joined the Railways in Ernakulam under the Trivandrum division of Kerala.
As a transwoman, Sindhu Ganapathy endured several challenges in her career. In 2009, she was transferred to Dindigul under the Madurai division.
In 2010, due to external pressure, Sindhu Ganapathy had to take a break from her career.
Despite all the challenges, Sindhu Ganapathy refused to give up. With courage and perseverance, she resumed her career.
Sindhu Ganapathy was able to resume her career through the intervention and support of leaders from the Southern Railway Labour Union.
The railway administration granted her the permission to resume her service, giving her recognition as a transwoman. Recently, the Southern Railways appointed her as a TTE.
Sindhu Ganapathy shared with the media that her story of success is not only a milestone for her but also for her entire community.
