The season of winter is incomplete without the deliciousness of sarson ka saag. If you’ve never tried it before, here is a perfect recipe for you.
5 cups sarson (mustard)
5 cups chopped spinach
Half cup chopped onion
Two tsp ginger and garlic
Half tsp chopped green chilli
Turmeric, red chilli powder, hing, and salt
Ghee
Boil sarson (mustard) and spinach in hot water. Allow them to cook for 5-7 minutes. Drain the water and set them aside for a while.
Once the spinach and sarson have cooled, blend them in a mixer. Add some water into the mixture for better consistency.
Fry hing & cumin seeds with ghee in a pan. Add chopped garlic, ginger, and onion. Saute the mixture until the onion turns light brown. Add the blended mixture and cook thoroughly.
Once the saag is cooked, add turmeric, chilli powder, and salt. Allow it to cook for a few minutes, stirring occasionally. Turn off the heat, when it looks completely cooked.
As a final step, add red chilli tadka to the saag. Serve it hot with chapatis or parathas.
