IPS officer Sanjukta Parashar has been appointed as the Inspector General (IG) of Assam CID.
Sanjukta Parashar’s promotion as IG came into effect in December 2023.
Dr Sanjukta Parashar, born and raised in Assam, previously served in the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Sanjukta Parashar completed her schooling in Assam. She earned a degree in Political Science. She also pursued a master’s degree in International Relations from JNU.
Remarkably, IPS Sanjukta Parashar also earned an MPhil and PhD in American Foreign Policy.
She cleared the UPSC exams in 2006. She was appointed as the Assistance Commandant of Makum in 2008.
Her first task was to manage the conflict between Bodo militants and illegal Bangladeshi terrorists.
In the span of 15 months, she encountered 16 terrorists and arrested 64 others. Gradually, she became a formidable figure as an officer.
Sanjukta Prashar has earned numerous awards including the prestigious President’s Police Medal and the Rani Gaidinliu Award for women empowerment.
Her father works as an engineer in the Irrigation Department, while her mother, Meena Devi, is a doctor.
She is also referred to as Lady Singham. She secured 85th rank in the UPSC exam in 2006, and opted for IPS cadre instead of IAS.
IPS Sanjukta Parashar is married to Sandeep Kakkar, and they are parents to a lovely son.
Her reputation as a fearless and effective law enforcement officer, makes her stand out.
