Inspiration

While many people lose hopes after a few setbacks, Arpit Gupta learned from his mistakes and took inspiration from Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s poetry.

Background

Arpit dreamed of becoming an IAS officer since childhood. His father originally from UP, worked in the Railways. Arpit earned his engineering degree from IIT Roorkee.

UPSC dreams

Arpit had a secure job at a reputable company, however, his dream of becoming a civil servant never diminished. Eventually, in September 2019, he left his job to prepare for UPSC.

UPSC exams

Just before the UPSC exam in 2020, he fell ill but managed to pass the prelims. Unfortunately, he contracted chicken pox right before the Mains exam.

Arpit failed to clear the Mains just by one mark. He felt disappointed but refused to give up.
