India Untold
Meet Rambabu Tiwari, the "water hero" of Adhawan, Bundelkhand, who embarked on a mission to tackle water scarcity.
Tiwari, starting in high school, aimed to solve Bundelkhand's water issues, gaining national recognition on 'Mann Ki Baat'.
Tiwari was inspired by seeing rural ponds fill up in monsoons despite challenges like heat waves and skepticism.
Starting with the famous 'Bajrang Sagar' pond, Tiwari rallied villagers to clean and revive it despite initial hesitation.
By 2015, Tiwari's efforts bore fruit as Adhawan thrived during the monsoon, utilizing the revived pond for irrigation and daily use. The success encouraged families to return.
Tiwari expanded his efforts to nearby villages, clearing more than 75 ponds and building rainwater troughs for farming.
