The government has not made any comments about it yet; however, it is expected to be announced next year, with implementations starting in January 2026.

Past pay commissions
Previously, the govt enacted the recommendations of a new pay commission every 10 years. The 7th pay commission was in 2016, hence the 8th pay commission is believed to be in 2026.

Formation of 8th pay commission
As per reports, the 8th pay commission can be formed around 2025. If implemented, it can hike salaries for crores of government employees and pensioners.

Expected increase in salaries
Experts believe a fitment factor of 3.68 times might be implemented in the 8th pay commission. This will hike the basic minimum govt salary from Rs 18,000 to Rs 26,000.
