Exposure to adequate sunlight is important for overall well-being. Let’s read about the causes and symptoms of vitamin D deficiency.

Studies suggest that approximately 490 million people in India suffer from Vitamin D deficiency. The unhealthy routine of using mobile phones for long hours at home and in the office, limits exposure to sunlight, which leads to a rapid decrease in Vitamin D levels. If you experience fatigue and bone pain, it may be a sign of Vitamin D deficiency. Let’s find out about some of its symptoms.

Exposure to adequate sunlight is important for overall well-being. Spend time in the mild morning sunlight with your skin exposed, as direct sun rays help the body produce Vitamin D naturally. If your body lacks this essential vitamin, you may notice the following symptoms:

Bone strength

Vitamin D is essential for calcium absorption in the body. Without it, calcium cannot be absorbed, leading to weakened bones over time. This can result in severe pain in the bones. You may experience symptoms such as lower back pain and spinal pain during physical activity.

Mental health

Lack of Vitamin D is also associated with depression. You may experience mood swings frequently. This symptom is particularly noticeable among older adults. Thus, Vitamin D deficiency impacts not just physical health but also mental well-being.

Weakness

Vitamin D plays a crucial role in muscle strength. When the body lacks sufficient Vitamin D, muscles cannot function effectively. This deficiency leads to body pain and a constant feeling of weakness, making even simple tasks difficult to perform.
