As the veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan was honoured with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke award, son Abhishek Bachchan is all praise. He posted a congratulatory message on social media.
The 43-year-old actor hopped on to Instagram and posted a picture of Big B, who is seen sitting upright posing for the camera. "My inspiration. My hero. Congratulations Pa on the Dadasaheb Phalke award. We are all so, so proud of you. Love you," the caption read.
The legendary actor was conferred with the highest honour of the film industry for his tireless, outstanding contribution to the world of cinema on Sunday.
The actor, who has colossally contributed to the Indian cinema for 50 years, was conferred with the highest honour of the film industry -- Dada Saheb Phalke award, instituted in 1969 -- in the presence of several dignitaries including Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The award comprises a golden lotus and a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh.
The prestigious award, named after the father of Indian cinema Dhundiraj Govind Phalke, is conferred by the Central government for outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Indian cinema.
The father-son bonding had been a super-hit in 2009 as the duo shared screen-space in the family entertainer Paa.
