After PM Modi’s visit to Lakshadweep, it has become a hot topic of discussion on the internet. If you’re planning to visit the islands, ensure that you have your documents ready.
To visit Lakshadweep, a special permit is essential for everyone, including Indian citizens and foreign tourists.
Lakshadweep is an archipelago of 36 islands. However, travel is restricted to only five of them: Agatti, Bangaram, Kadmat, Minicoy, and Kavaratti.
You can apply for the permit offline or online. For online applications, create an account on the ePermit portal at https://epermit.utl.gov.in/pages/signup
Submit the required forms and documents on the ePermit portal specifying your travel date. The permit will be emailed to you 15 days prior to your scheduled visit.
For offline permits, visit the website of Lakshadweep Administration at https://www.lakshadweeptourism.com/contact.html
Download the application from the website. Fill the form, attach the copies of necessary documents, and submit it to the collector’s office.
Make sure you have the following documents: passport-size photo, Aadhar card, voter ID card, proof of travel (e.g. flight tickets), and hotel bookings.
