On 25 December 2022, Khushi Pandey’s grandfather lost his life in a road accident caused by dense fog. A car driver hit him when he was riding his bicycle.
In response to the incident, Khushi made a commitment to assist providing lights for cyclists and cart drivers navigating through dark roads.
She organizes a weekly food drive every Wednesday at the government hospitals, and provides food to 500 people.
At the young of 18, Khushi started her campaign ‘Project Ujala.’ She raises awareness to prevent road accidents in the dark.
Khushi’s boards and posters say ‘Cycle Par Light Lag Valo’ meaning ‘please install lights on your bicycles.'
Khushi also extends her support to people living on the footpaths. She distributes mosquitoe nets, apple juice, and orange juice to labourers in need.
Khushi Pandey under her project ‘Chhav’ provides large umbrellas to vendors working under the scorching sun.
Presently, she is also running a school for the underprivileged children.
Khushi does advertising for various companies and has two YouTube channels. 80 percent of her income is donated towards supporting others.
Khushi’s project ‘Daag’ provides free lessons on menstruation to women in government schools and slum areas.
Due to family’s poor financial circumstances, Khushi received her education at the NGO ‘Shakuntala Devi.’
