According to a factsheet by The Quantum Hub, the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024 will see the highest turnout of women voters in the past two decades.
In the Lok Sabha Elections 2019, the female voter turnout was higher in 11 states.
As of January 1, 2024, the total number of women voters stands at 47.1 crore.
The report also highlighted that women’s representation remains low in certain fields like service sector and overseas sector with only 3.5% and 11% respectively.
In the 2019 elections, the Northeastern states recorded the highest number of women voters.
11 states are expected to have a higher number of women voters than men, with Kerala leading at 51%, followed by Goa, Mizoram, Manipur, and Tamil Nadu.
States like Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Bihar, and Uttarakhand have the lowest number of women voters.
