Suman Sukhija took up mushroom cultivation

Suman Makhija from Delhi took training in mushroom cultivation from HAIC (Haryana Agro Industries Corporation) and Krishi Vikas Kendra.

Suman started farming in a room of her house

Suman Makhija learned about Cordyceps militaris (caterpillar fungus in Hindi) and made a plan to cultivate it at home.

Invested Rs 4 lakh

In 2018, Suman set up a lab in a room (200 sq ft) of her house and invested Rs 4 lakh for the cultivation of Cordyceps militaris. The culture for this was imported from Thailand.

Suman Sukhija earning 30 lakh rupees annually

Suman started cultivating Cordyceps militaris at home. She sells it at the rate of around Rs 1 lakh per kg. Sukhija earns an annual income of 30 lakhs from this lab.

Cordyceps is used in many diseases

Cordyceps contains a lot of antioxidants. It is useful in the treatment of autoimmune, respiratory diseases, cholesterol, diabetes, kidney related diseases.
