In a tragic turn of events in northern Italy, three close friends found themselves in a perilous situation as flash floods suddenly struck while they were exploring near a river. Patrizia Cormos, Bianca Doros, and Cristian Molnar, all in their twenties, were stranded on a river island and hugged each other tightly in a desperate attempt to stay together against the raging currents.

The ordeal began when one of the women, Cormos, called for help around 1:35 p.m. on Friday, May 31. Firefighters rushed to the scene, trying to toss them a rope to safety. Despite efforts and encouragement from the firefighters, the swift-moving waters overwhelmed them, carrying the three away before their eyes.

Tragically, only the bodies of Cormos and Doros were found about a kilometer away from where they were last seen. Molnar remains missing, and rescue teams are determined to continue the search until he is found.

The heartbreaking incident unfolded near the river bank, where the friends had stopped their car to enjoy the sunny weather and take some photos on a small beach. Mayor Michele De Sabata of Premariacco described the events as a catastrophe that happened unexpectedly in just a few minutes.

Bianca Doros, who was visiting her family in Italy, hailed from Romania, while Patrizia Cormos was a student at the Udine Academy of Fine Arts. Reports suggest that Cormos had sought permission from her mother to join her friends on a trip to celebrate the completion of an important exam.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident as the search for Molnar continues. Giorgio Basile, the provincial firefighters' chief, recounted the futile attempt to rescue the friends, expressing the heartbreak of watching them being swallowed by the floodwaters despite their efforts.

The devastating footage of the friends' final moments serves as a grim reminder of the unpredictable and dangerous nature of flash floods, leaving a community in mourning and hoping for the safe return of their missing friend.
