Verdict  

The arrest of the high profile religious leader came 87 days after a nun filed a complaint of rape and sexual harassment in Kerala. 

Observing that most countries have abolished the law, three judges in the five-member Constitution bench held that making adultery a crime is retrograde and would mean "punishing unhappy people".

 In its verdict, the apex court declared the Centre's flagship Aadhaar scheme as constitutionally valid but struck down some of its provisions, including its linking with bank accounts, mobile phones and school admissions.

 

The Supreme Court in a historic judgment ruled that the Aadhaar scheme is constitutionally valid and provided some relief to the common man

'We see it as a big victory of the Modi government, the pro-poor Modi government. The Supreme Court has upheld the constitutional validity of Aadhaar and has also said that it does not violate privacy,' Sambit Patra said
