Osheen Murab, a resident of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, has achieved what many can only dream of. As the president of the Livelihood and Beyond Foundation, she has not only showed her remarkable capabilities but has also transformed the lives of over 600 families. Her journey serves as an inspiring example for girls who aspire to accomplish great things. 

College days

Osheen's inspiring journey began during her college days while pursuing an LLB degree, when her passion for social work started to blossom. In her third year, she adopted a school and focused on improving its infrastructure and educational standards. Following this, she had the opportunity to work on a project with MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises), a pivotal experience that transformed the course of her life.

Beginnings

In 2021, Osheen established a leather cluster in the Sikar district of Rajasthan, marking a significant milestone by creating employment for around 320 artisans. Her efforts revitalised the local industry, bringing about positive change in the lives of these craftsmen. Following this success, Osheen shifted her focus to Budhni in the Sehore district, renowned for its wooden toys made from Dudhai wood, a craft preserved by over 40 families for generations. In March 2024, she launched a new wooden toy project in Budhni, generating employment for more than 300 individuals, including 180 women.

Empowering women through employment

A remarkable aspect of Osheen's projects is her focus on empowering women. Today, under her leadership, hundreds of women have become self-reliant and are able to support their families. The wooden toys from Budhni are gaining recognition not only in India but also internationally, thanks to their vibrant colours, textures, and exquisite craftsmanship. Osheen and her team have provided the artisans with a renewed identity by promoting this traditional art form.

Family support

Osheen believes that any dream can be achieved with the support of family. Her parents have been there for her at every step, enabling her to assist others and ensure the success of her projects. By turning the impossible into reality, Oshin Murab has demonstrated that one person's efforts can truly transform the lives of many.
