Though some Congress leaders are eager to support the Trinamool Congress (TMC), a majority of leaders are opposed to the idea. They are against TMC trying to suppress Congress in West Bengal.

While many within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) are surprised with this step, sources say Mamata will be consciously seen celebrating Durga Puja at multiple venues this year to change her image in Bengal where Hindutva outfits have grown in stature in recent years.  

This, even as Mamata Banerjee initiated stipend for imams and muezzins soon after assuming power in 2011, which makes the already poor state exchequer incur a cost in crores
 

Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh's car was attacked by TMC supporters. His car windshield was smashed and dozens of two-wheelers were also damaged in the attack.

Ghosh, who is known for his strong barbs against Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, has accused her of orchestrating the attack
