The Kerala minister said that the royal family are not able to realise that the times of monarchy are over. “It is not their rule now. It is the rule of democracy,” he added.

Amidst protests of people, religious leaders including Sri Sri Ravishankar of the Art of Living and Sadhguru of Isha Foundation have spoken about the Sabarimala issue. 

Rehana Fathima, the troublemaker who tried to enter Sabarimala, has been expelled from the Muslim community as her act “hurt lakhs of Hindu devotees and it is against the rituals of the Hindu community”. 

"I have never been to Sabarimala. But, I will stand with what is reasonable for women and the state," says Makkal Needhi Maiam president Kamal Haasan.

While the Congress changed its stand recently and began supporting the protesters, the CPI(M) and JD(S) leaders have ignored the age-old custom that has defined this shrine.

Devaswom minister Kadakampally Surendran stressed on the fact that activists, who intend to make a political point, have no place in Sabarimala. And thus the government need not protect such people, he said.

BJP leader Shobha Surendran's supporters started to block the roads and began to protest seeking her release immediately. Surendran was arrested while protesting against the Sabarimala verdict.

The BJP leader Shobha Surendran was arrested yesterday by the Kerala police during a protest.
