A 40-year-old Madrassa teacher, Samsuddin Haji Suleman Jat, has been booked for raping a minor

 The 'Al-Qaeda in Indian Subcontinent'(AQIS) terrorist worked as a maulana at a local madrassa in Jamshedpur. The accused was a close aide of Abdul Rahman Katki, who was arrested in 2016 from a madrassa in Cuttack.

In what appears downright Muslim appeasement, Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee has allocated more funds for minority affairs and madrasahs than to higher education. The money allocated for madrasahs is in excess of Rs 4,000 crore while the funds for higher education stood at Rs 3,964 crore

Flood in Kodagu, Karnataka, brought out its unity. Khatija Umma Arabic college/madrassa in Madikeri is taking care of 530 flood victims. Hindus, Christians and others are housed at this madrassa in Shontikoppa, a village 15 km away from Madikeri.
