The Kottayam municipal sessions court has sentenced 10 convicts in the controversial Kerala Dalit Christian Kevin honour killing case to serve double life sentences on Tuesday

 

The Kottayam principal sessions court that declared Kevin Joseph murder case as honour killing and declared 10 out of the 14 accused as convicts will pronounce the quantum of sentence on August 27
 

In May 2018, the 23-year-old Kevin Joseph was allegedly killed by a gang of 14 people for marrying 20-year-old Neenu, who is from a wealthy family in Kerala. Kevin was in a relationship with Neenu. The latter couldn't get the approval of her parents, who were worried that their “prestige was at stake”, given his financial status

Kerala’s Kottayam principal sessions court will pronounce the verdict in the Kevin Joseph murder case on August 14. The Dalit Christian youth was killed by a gang for marrying a woman from a wealthy family in Kerala

The forensic report produced before a Kerala court stated there was no possibility that the death of Kevin Joseph was an accident or suicide. Dalit Christian Kevin, who was allegedly murdered for marrying a 23-year-old woman from a wealthy family, had a large amount of water in his lungs, the report stated, adding that there were indications of a struggle too
 

The 38-year-old woman landed in Pamba, near Sabarimala, in her traditional attire carrying irumudi kettu, the mandatory offering of coconut, camphor, incense stick, rice and flowers.
