Air Pollution  

The air quality in the area is expected to reach its worst because of toxic fumes from stubble burning in parts of Punjab and Haryana that are expected to gush into Delhi, coupled with Diwali and other seasonal factors.

In its order, the court banned the online sale of firecrackers and put a stay on e-commerce portals from selling them.

The top court in India had earlier reported its concern over the growing respiratory problems among children due to air pollution caused by firecrackers.

Union minister Harshvardhan said that the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has constituted a 41-member team, which will continuously monitor the air pollution levels and report to the board

Delhi-NCR areas like Ghaziabad and Gurgaon recorded 'very poor' air quality at 302 and 336 respectively, Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data said. Yesterday, the AQI of Delhi was registered at 259.

Around 32,000 saplings were planted at the venue of the event. Officials said around one lakh students and residents are participating in the campaign at 600 locations across the city to fight air pollution.
