As the latest Air Quality Index (AQI) betrays, Delhi is breathing a “very unhealthy” air at an alarming level of 279 points on the air quality parameters. The PM 10 level (presence in the air of particles with a diameter of less than 10 micrometres ) in Delhi stood at 999 and the PM2.5 level was recorded at 638, according to aqicn.org.

'The Delhi government will forthwith deposit a sum of Rs 25 crore towards the cost of damage to the environment with the CPCB for restoration of the damage. We further direct that on failure to comply with this order, the Delhi government may be required to deposit at least Rs 10 crore per month till the order of this tribunal is fully executed,' the Bench said

In Punjab, the number of recorded incidents rose to 42,126 till November 11, compared with 42,051 in the same period of 2017. In Haryana, 7,454 incidents were reported so far, compared with 9,508 in 2017.

Further, the Pollution Control Board will keep a tab on the extent of air pollution for 14 days ― seven days before the festival and seven days thereafter

Imran Hussain, Delhi environment minister stated that 44 joint teams are appointed to curb air pollution. Other agencies are instructed to work for the same.
