Viswasam actor Ajith Kumar cleared rumours about him shifting his focus towards politics joining the BJP soon.
Tamil star Ajith Kumar's recent release Viswasam has turned out to be one of the biggest blockbusters this season in Kollywood. His movie was released along with Rajinikanth's Petta and both the films have significantly worked at the box office.
In the last few days, rumours are been doing the rounds that Ajith might shift his focus towards politics soon. Although this was yet to be confirmed by Ajith himself, fans had believed that it was really going to happen and that too very soon.
Later, the actor himself decided to clarify his stance. Ajith penned down an open letter to his fans stating that he has no intention of entering politics and will only focus on his upcoming films.
Ajith, fondly known as Thala, also advised his fans to focus on their daily activities and not worry about such speculations. The actor also requested his fans to support good causes in the society. Read the full letter here:

Recently, BJP state president Tamilisai Soundararajan had said that Ajith should play a crucial role in taking Prime Minister Narendra Modi's schemes to the general public. But soon after the release of Ajith's press statement, Tamilisai Soundararajan clarified that the actor had not been invited to join the BJP and that she acknowledged Ajith’s opinion.
Ajith's statements received mixed reactions on Twitter. Most celebrities and politicians and the president of the women’s wing of the DMK, Kanimozhi, praised the actor for his decision. Bollywood actor Swara Bhasker also said, "SO much respect for #Thala #Ajith #AjithKumar #AjithPressRelease (SIC)"

The speculation about Ajith's interest in politics may have been raised after few of his fans joined the BJP in Tiruppur recently. After counterparts like Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth, people thought the new kid on the block would be Ajith Kumar..
