Syed Shahnawaz Hussain is an Indian politician. He was born on 12 December 1968 in Samastipur, Bihar. His zodiac sign is Sagittarius. He completed his schooling from Williams High School, Bihar. He earned a diploma in Engineering from New Delhi. 

His father’s name is Syed Nasir Hussain, and his mother’s name is Nasima Hussain.

He is married to Renu Hussain. They are parents to Arbaaz Hussain, Adeeb Hussain, and Aadira Hussain.

Shahnawaz Hussain is one of the most prominent leaders of BJP. He is considered the Muslim face of the BJP with a strong Hindu base along with Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Najma Heptulla.

During his college years, he was introduced to RSS. Before officially joining politics, he worked at several companies as an engineer. At the same time, he was appointed as the All India Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJP Youth Wing).

In the year 1991, he joined the national executive of the youth wing of BJP and worked under Uma Bharti.

In 1999, Shahnawaz Hussain was elected to the 13th Lok Sabha. 

On 7 February 2001, he was given the charge of the Coal Ministry by Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

During the tenure of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he became the youngest Minister of Civil Aviation at the age of 30 in the history of the Government of India. On 24 May 2003, he was also given the responsibility of Cabinet Minister of Textiles Ministry.

Under the Smart City Mission launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Shahnawaz Hussain played an important role in turning Bhagalpur into a smart city.

Shahnawaz Hussain’s roles in BJP

During his tenure in the 14th Lok Sabha, he was a member of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Finance Committee on Estimates and Chairman of the Petitions Committee.

On 17 December 2009, he was appointed as the official spokesperson of the BJP in Parliament.

In the year 2014, he lost the Bhagalpur seat in the Lok Sabha elections. 

Presently, he is serving as a member of the Central Election Committee of BJP.
