Poonam Sinha is an Indian actress and politician. She was born on 3 November 1949 in Hyderabad. Her sun sign is Scorpio. She completed her schooling from Our Lady Queen of Mission School, Kolkata. She earned a BA degree from Shrimati Nathi Bai Damodar Thakre Women University. 

She is married to Shatrughan Sinha. They have two sons, Luv Sinha and Kush Sinha, and a daughter, Sonakshi Sinha.

She met Shatrughan Sinha for the first time in 1965 during her travel to Mumbai from Patna. Poonam was 16 and Shatrughan Sinha was 19 at the time. 

The two started dating after Poonam completed her graduation. After officially dating each other for seven years, Poonam and Shatrughan got married on 9 July 1980. 

Their daughter, Sonakshi Sinha is a popular Bollywood actress.

Poonam Sinha has worked as a producer for films like ‘Prem Geet’ (1981) and ‘Dil Leke Dekho’ (2006).

On 16 April 2019, Poonam Sinha joined the Samajwadi Party.
