Kiren Rijiju is an Indian politician. He was born on 19 November 1971 in West Kameng, Arunachal Pradesh. His sun sign is Scorpio. He attended Hindu College, Hans Raj College, Delhi. His father’s name is Rinchin Kharu, and his mother’s name is Chirai Rijiju.

He is married to Joram Rina Rijiju. They are parents to three kids, Sancho Rijiju, Nathey Rijiju, and Jajey Rijiju.

Kiren Rijiju was an active social worker during his school and college years. He led many social movements as a social worker and student leader.

He was honoured with various awards and certificates for sports, cultural, literary and social service during his school days.

Kiren Rijiju was a member of the youth and cultural team that participated in the Festival of India in the USSR held in Moscow in 1987.

Kiren Rijiju’s political journey

Kiren Rijiju served as a member of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission from 2000 to 2005.

He was elected MP from Arunachal West constituency in the 2004 Lok Sabha elections.

In the year 2009, due to an internal conflict, Kiren Rijiju resigned from the BJP and joined Congress. In the year 2012, he again joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. 

Many national dailies and English magazines named him the Best Young Member of Parliament.

Kiren Rijiju’s roles 

He was re-elected as Member of Parliament from Arunachal West constituency in the 2014 general elections. The NDA government appointed him as the Minister of Home Affairs. 

Kiren Rijiju was appointed as the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports of India in 2019.

Presently, Kiren Rijiju is serving as the Cabinet Minister of Earth Sciences in the Government of India.
