Barkha Bisht is an Indian television actress. Her full name is Barkha Bisht Sengupta. She was born on 28 December 1979 in Hisar, Haryana. Her sun sign is Capricorn. She grew up in Dehradun. She did her schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya Fortwilliam, Kolkata. She earned B. Com degree from Symbiosis College, Pune. 

Her father is a retired army colonel. 

She is married to Indranil Sengupta. They have a daughter Mayra Sengupta. 

Her hobbies are dancing and exercising.

Barkha’s interest in the celebrity life led her to do modelling assignments during her graduation.

In the year 2000, Barkha participated in the ‘NDA Queen’ beauty pageant and became the winner.

Barkha decided to venture into the field of acting, but her father did not approve of it. However, she moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in acting. Barkha’s mother convinced her father to give her the permission to pursue an acting career. 

Barkha’s first role

Barkha played her first role as ‘Udita’ in television show ‘Kitni Mast Hai Zindagi’ (2004-05).

Barkha has done cameo roles in various shows like Kasauti Zindagi Ki (2001–2008), Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka (2006–2007), and Kavyanjali (2005–2006).

In 2006, Barkha met Indranil on the sets of ‘Pyaar Ke Do Naam… Ek Radha Ek Shyam’. The two were playing roles opposite each other. At that time, Barkha was dating Karan Singh Grover. 

Apart from acting, she has also hosted shows like ‘Comedy Circus Ke Ajoobey (2012)’ and ‘Popcorn (2006)’ on Zoom TV.

In the year 2008, she participated as a contestant in the dance show ‘Saas Vs Bahu’.

The same year, she married with Indranil Sengupta, after dating him for almost two years. 

Barkha’s debut in Bollywood

Barkha Bisht appeared in the song ‘Ishq Barse’ in the 2010 Bollywood film ‘Raajneeti’.

In 2013, Barkha played her first Bollywood role in the film ‘Ramlila’. Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh were the lead actors in the film.

In 2019, she played the role of ‘Jashodaben’ in the film ‘PM Narendra Modi’ opposite Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi. The film is based on the life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In 2020, she received the ‘Kalakar Puraskar’ for Best Female Actress.

Some of her popular shows are, Babul Ki Bitiya (2007), Naamkarann (2016), Kaal Bhairav Rahasya (2017), Shrimati (2022), Shaadi Mubarak (2020), and Chandragupta Maurya (2018).

Barkha’s latest projects

In 2022, she was seen in a web series ‘Mukhbir- The Story of a Spy’.

In 2023, she played a role in the Bollywood film ‘1920: Horrors of the Heart’. Her co-actors were Avika Gor, Danish Pandor and Ketaki Kulkarni.
