The devotees travelling for darshan and their vehicles have been given an exemption from prohibitory orders. The exemption applies to the devotees who also arrive in groups and also applies to chant mantras individually or in groups.
It was reported on Tuesday that a group of 30 women aged between 10 and 50 years had sought permission from the Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan to visit Sabarimala temple on December 23.
The women delegation said they had sent a letter to Vijayan seeking permission and security while visiting the temple. The women have been told that their request has been forwarded to the police personnel concerned.
Several protests have been witnessed in the state after the Supreme Court verdict on September 28 allowing women of all age groups to enter the famous shrine. Earlier, around 15 women under the age 50 tried to enter the Sabarimala temple, but none of them reached the Sannidhanam. Most of them returned following the protest of devotees.
Meanwhile, four transgenders, who were denied permission to visit the Sabarimala temple on Sunday, got approval to pray at the temple. And the group visited the temple on December 18 with police protection.
