Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has condemned the attack over the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah outside the Calcutta University and has demanded President Ram Nath Kovind’s intervention in the incident.

Sonowal said that Mamata Didi has no right to rule the state and the President of India should immediately dismiss the government.

He also appealed to the Election Commission of India (ECI) to take all possible measures to ensure that there is a peaceful election in West Bengal.

“We strongly condemn the coward attack of the Trinamool Congress gangsters on the peaceful rally of BJP president Amit Shah. The spontaneous support of the people of West Bengal has frustrated Mamata Didi, and now she has realised that Modi wave has reached West Bengal. She has now realised that she is losing Bengal. That is why she has resorted to politics of Gundagiri,” Sonowal said.

The Assam CM appreciated BJP president Amit Shah for appealing to the people of West Bengal to maintain peace in the face of the provocation by TMC goons.

“The people of West Bengal have now decided to go for Modi. I appeal to the ECI to take all possible measures to ensure that there is a peaceful election in West Bengal. I request the President of India to take stern action against the West Bengal government for their total failure of maintaining the law and order situation and ensure the security of life and the property in the state,” Sonowal said.
