Retirement can feel like a big change when you leave your job, but some people are excited about it. Like this Delta pilot, Captain Tom Lake, who worked there for over 30 years.
To celebrate the end of his career, Captain Lake flew his last flight from Michigan to Atlanta with his son Erik, who is also a pilot. After landing in Atlanta, he announced his retirement.
Before the flight, Captain Lake told Fox 5, "I'll try to keep it together as best as I can. I've been thinking about that for a while, and I'll be very emotional."
His son Erik said, "It's going to be something special. It will be an unforgettable experience for me." In the past, they've flown together many times. Erik shared a sweet video on Instagram, showing moments from their flights as co-pilots.
Captain Lake talked about flying with his son, saying, "It was surreal. He's sitting there, clearly an experienced pilot, but he's still your son. It was a lot of fun to watch him grow from a private pilot to sitting in my cockpit with me."
According to a report on Fox 5, the father and son have spent about 500 to 600 hours flying together over six years.
