India and America are undertaking several initiatives in digital economy, energy and infrastructure, peace maintenance, stability and prosperity in the Indo Pacific region.

Brian Hook, senior policy Advisor to the US Secretary of State, said that both the countries are cooperating with other like-minded partners like Japan, Australia and South Korea to advance their shared vision of the Indo Pacific.
The senior policy advisor also said that the secretary of State would be announcing several new initiatives to expand economic engagement in this region.

"India is a key partner in our efforts to ensure that the entire Indo Pacific region is a region of peace, stability and growing prosperity. We work very closely with India (in this regard)," said Hook.

However, when asked about specifics related to India, he said, "I cannot disclose the funding numbers... We are very excited that the Secretary will be announcing a number of new initiatives and they will have benefit for India".

If reports are to be believed, President Donald Trump has lined up his top Cabinet members Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross and Energy Secretary Rick Perry — at US Chambers of Commerce which is hosting the first Indo-Pacific Business Forum meeting in Washington on July 30.

The forum will introduce the economic and commercial elements of the US' whole-of-government Indo-Pacific strategy and will include participation from senior administration officials, private sector and officials representing Indo-Pacific nations.

Observing that India and the US share enduring interests and values as the oldest and largest democracies, Hook said that India-US partnership is rooted in shared democratic values.

"When you look at the democracies spanning the Indo Pacific region, from the US, India, Japan, and other very strong democracies that span the Indo Pacific, we share an interest in advancing security and prosperity in the region," Hook said.

He also said that the secretary's announcements would be an economic pillar for America's Indo-Pacific strategy.

"The secretary will announce new US government initiatives and new fundings, primarily focused on digital economy, energy and infrastructure... these sectors are the foundation of Indo-Pacific economic future ....which will accelerate US private sector investment in the region," he added.
