New Delhi: Jensen Huang, hailing from Taiwan, had a difficult childhood which often required him to do menial jobs like working as a waiter and washing clothes. Today, he has built the world’s most valuable company. Jensen Huang is the founder of American company Nvidia, known for producing AI and semiconductor chips. Nvidia recently surpassed Microsoft and Apple in terms of market value. Last Tuesday, Nvidia’s shares increased by 3.5 percent, resulting in company’s market cap pf $3.34 trillion. 

Background

Jensen Huang was born in Taiwan in 1963. Due to financial challenges, his parents sent him to live with a relative in America in 1973, in hopes of giving him a better life. He earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from Oregon State University and completed his post-graduation from Stanford University in 1992. While pursuing his higher studies, he worked as a waiter to cover the expenses.

Perseverance

Jensen Huang believes that no job is too small. According to media reports, he did several menial jobs to fulfil his financial needs. At the age of 30, he founded Nvidia. He learned about chip technology while working in an office and with the support of his friends, Chris Malachowsky and Curtis Priem, started Nvidia from a restaurant in 1993. 

Enduring challenges

The three friends worked together from 6 in the morning until late at night and successfully created the first graphics processing unit. Financial constraints made it difficult to take the business forward, however, with innovation and perseverance, Nvidia has become the company with the largest market cap in the world today. 

Richest Businessmen

According to Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Jensen Huang has become the 12th richest person in the world with a net worth of $119 billion. Nvidia surpassed Microsoft and Apple with a market cap of $3.34 trillion. Jensen Huang has also overtaken India’s leading businessmen Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani in terms of wealth.
