It is a momentous occasion for the Islamic nation because Saudi Arabia will compete in the Miss Universe competition for the first time.
Beauty pageant veteran and influencer Rumy Alqahtani revealed on Monday on her Instagram account that she will be competing in one of the world's most prestigious pageants as the kingdom's representative.

Alqahtani's entry is comparable to that of Lujane Yacoub of Bahrain, who made history as the first woman from the Gulf to represent her country in the Miss Universe competition last year.

The Khaleej Times claims that Alqahtani, who was born in Riyadh, is accustomed to the limelight. She has participated in multiple international pageants, the most recent being Miss and Mrs. Global Asian, which was held a few weeks ago in Malaysia.

In addition to being named Miss Saudi Arabia, she also received the titles of Miss Middle East (Saudi Arabia), Miss Arab World Peace 2021, and Miss Woman (Saudi Arabia).
