Amid the turmoil following Sheikh Hasina's resignation, a viral photo of a woman departing with a Dior suitcase highlights the disorder at her looted palace.
In a dramatic turn of events, hundreds of demonstrators stormed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's palace in Dhaka shortly after her resignation and departure from Bangladesh. The violent riots that led to her resignation saw protestors breaking into her official residence, causing significant damage. Videos emerging from the scene show crowds vandalizing the property and taking away items such as clothing, kitchenware, and blankets. In a surprising twist, many protestors also helped themselves to fish, chicken, and rabbit from the residence.
Amid the chaos, a photograph of a woman leaving the scene with a Dior suitcase went viral on social media. The image, which shows the woman in a blue suit smiling as she carries the luxury suitcase, captured public attention and highlighted the disorder during the unrest.

Sheikh Hasina left Bangladesh on Monday after protesters demanded her resignation due to ongoing violent quota demonstrations in Dhaka. Television footage showed Hasina and her sister boarding a military helicopter. Her aircraft then flew to India, landing at Hindon Air Base in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. From there, she is expected to travel to Delhi before heading to London.
In response to the unrest, Bangladesh Army Chief Gen. Waker-uz-Zaman has sought to calm the population. He assured the public that the military is working to restore order and has engaged with opposition politicians and civil society leaders. Gen. Zaman mentioned that he would consult the president on forming an interim government and promised an investigation into the violent crackdown on student-led protests that triggered the widespread anger. He also instructed security forces not to use live ammunition against the crowds.
