Dhanushkodi (Tamil Nadu): The Tamil Nadu forest officials gathered 105 turtle eggs from the shore of Dhanushkodi on Monday. The Olive Ridley turtles visit the beach for laying eggs in December every year. But this time the pattern changed and they visited the seashore in January because of the cyclonic storm in the region.
However, the forest officials patrolling the shores on a regular basis stopped poachers from digging out the eggs, and have gathered 105 eggs so far. The collected eggs will be transferred to MR Chathiram hatchery for safety purposes.
