Try these 7 lesser known features of Google Maps

Save location of where you parked

Next time when you are parking your vehicle, just tap on the blue icon on the mobile app map and select 'Save Parking'. When you need to find your vehicle, search for 'Parking'.

Shows unpaved roads and tracks

Google Maps can be used to find cyclist-friendly roads and unpaved routes. On Google Maps web, move your cursor to layers pannel the bottom right and click on 'Biking'.

Double-tap zoom

Many users don't know but the Google Maps app on iOS and Android allows users to double-tap on the screen and hold to zoom in and out. This let's you use it with only one hand.

Measure distances and areas

One can measure property area and distance using the Google Maps web. Click on different locations to define boundaries and measure the area.

Pin your locations

For locations you visit often or need them saved in your app, you can simply mark them on Google Maps. Tap and hold a spot on your mobile app and pin it with the name and info.

Can report a road accident

Tap the icon on the right of the navigation mode of Google Maps and opt for 'Crash'.  If enough people report, Google will put up a warning for that area.

Contribute tab

One can click on the 'Contribute Now' tab on the application and answer simple questions in yes or no to enhance the Google Maps service and experience.
