Explore India's Blue City
Jodhpur, known as the Blue City, is an emerging tourist destination. Did you know it was founded nearly 650 years ago?
Jodhpur was founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha Singh on a high hill. As the population expanded, houses were gradually built in the lower areas of the city.
Despite modern developments, the old city of Jodhpur is still famously known as the Blue City. From the vantage point of Mehrangarh Fort, the entire city appears bathed in blue.
Although the interiors may differ, the exterior walls of every house in Jodhpur are painted blue.
In the city centre, the Clock Tower area is home to Jodhpur's famous Mirchi Bada and a variety of other local delicacies.
