Pairs, France is set to host the Olympics this year after a 3-year gap from the Tokyo games in 2021. The Paris Olympics 2024 will be from July 26 to August 11, 2024.

This time it is different from the usual 4-year gap due to the Tokyo games' pushback from 2020 to 2021 due to COVID-19.

Removal of sports from Olympics

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is responsible for adding, removing, or sometimes reintroducing sports into the Olympic lineup. This year 3 games were removed.

Karate

Karate made a thrilling debut in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics however, the committee has decided to remove the 17th-century game due to its lack of 'entertainment value'.

America's favorite sport, baseball was first introduced to the Olympics in 1904. Since then the game has been on and off the lineup due to player conflicts and scheduling.

Softball

Softball has been a part of the Olympic lineup from 1996 to 2008. It was skipped in 2012 and 2016 and came back in 2020. This year softball is again getting skipped.
