PM Vishwakarma Yojana aims at empowering the country’s artisans and craftsmen.
PM Vishwakarma Yojana was introduced by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises on 17 September 2023.
The scheme aims to empower people engaged in occupations such as carpentry, boat building, hammer and tool kit making, and several others.
Other occupations include potters, sculptors, stone breakers, armourers, blacksmiths, locksmiths, goldsmiths, cobblers, masons, basket and broom makers, doll and toy makers, etc.
Artisans above the age of 18 who are engaged in self-employment services within the unorganized sector are eligible for the scheme.
Necessary documents required are Aadhar card, Voter ID card, proof of occupation, mobile number, bank account details, income certificate, and caste certificate (if applicable).
Under PM Vishwakarma Yojana, the artisans receive a certificate and ID card. They undergo a 5-day basic training with a payment of Rs 500 per day.
The artisans receive advanced training sessions for 15 days. They also receive a toolkit of up to Rs 15,000 in the form of an e-voucher.
The artisans can get a loan of up to Rs 3 lakh in two instalments. The instalments come with a concessional interest rate of 5%.
