Renowned poet Munawwar Rana passed away on 14 January 2024 after suffering from a heart attack.
Munawwar Rana completed his studies in Kolkata and ventured into the transport business.
Munawwar Rana moved to Lucknow and secured an apprenticeship under Ustad Wali Aasi. He rented a room in a hotel in Aminabadi.
Munawwar Rana ventured into newspaper publication and faced losses in the business. He temporarily relocated to Kolkata after that.
Some of the books that Munawwar Rana authored are ‘Maan,’ ‘Munawwar Nama,’ ‘Muhajirnama,’ and 'Rukhsat Karo Mujhe,’ etc.
In 2014, Munawwar Rana was honoured with the Sahitya Akademi Award for the poem ‘Shahdaba.’
