In certain Indian states, the question papers for the 10th and 12th board exams are designed with questions that range from difficult to moderate.
PARAKH, a standard-setting organization under NCERT, has evaluated the English and Mathematics question papers from 17 school education boards across the country.
The report shows five states known for setting the toughest question papers in board exams: Tripura, Maharashtra, Goa, Chhattisgarh, and West Bengal.
As per PARAKH's report, the Tripura Board of Secondary Education had the highest proportion of 'difficult' questions at 66.6%, making it the state with the toughest board exams.
Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education had the second highest proportion of 'difficult' questions at 53.57%.
It was followed by the Goa Board (44.66%), Chhattisgarh Board (44.44%), and the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (33.33%).
In Chhattisgarh board exams, the proportion of 'easy' questions in the exams were relatively higher at 47.62%.
In Goa Board exams, all questions were either 'difficult' or 'medium' level, with 55.34% being 'medium'.
In Maharashtra, the distribution of 'easy,' 'difficult,' and 'medium' questions was equal.
