Moong dal halwa is not only nutritious but it’s also delectable. The season of winter is perfect for making it at home.

Ingredients
1 cup yellow moong dal
1 cup milk
2 pinches of saffron
Half tsp cardamom powder
2 tsp chopped almonds
1 tbsp desi ghee
1 cup sugar

Follow these steps
Soak washed moong dal for 6 hours. Once the dal absorbs enough water, drain them and grind them in a mixer. Ensure that the dal retains a slightly coarse texture.

Second step
Take lukewarm milk in a cup. Add kesar to the milk and dissolve it. Once the saffron has fully dissolved, set it aside.

Delight of ghee
Add one tbsp of ghee to a heated pan over medium heat. Add the moong dal mixture. Stir the dal until it attains a light brown colour.

Next steps
Add a cup of lukewarm water and some milk to it. Proceed to add sugar to the mixture. Finally, add the saffron milk and sprinkle cardamom powder & mix the ingredients thoroughly.

Final touches
Continue cooking on a low flame. After the halwa is ready, transfer it into a bowl and garnish it with almonds.
