Keep yourself healthy with this nutritious halwa made from jaggery.
The sweet dish is healthy and beneficial for both children and the elderly. Preparing this halwa twice a week can provide protection against the cold.
1 cup semolina (sooji)
1 cup jaggery
Half tsp cardamom powder
5 tbsp sugar
5-6 saffron strands
Half cup raisins
Half cup cashew nuts
Half cup almonds
Soak semolina in water for 20 minutes.
Heat ghee in a pan and add the soaked semolina.
Once the semolina turns golden brown, reduce the heat to a simmer.
Pour the jaggery water into the roasted semolina and add sugar.
Mix the ingredients. Continue stirring the mixture on medium heat until the semolina is fully cooked.
Add dry fruits to the halwa. For more taste, add cardamom powder. Allow the halwa to cool, and sprinkle saffron before serving.
