Maximum Retail Price (MRP) is set by government so that the sellers don’t overcharge customers for the products.
Very often, shopkeepers sell goods at higher prices to increase their profits. However, this is considered illegal and you can file a complaint when you experience this.
If any shopkeeper sells goods to customers above the MRP, you have the right to file a complaint.
If a shopkeeper charges more than the MRP under the pretext of additional services like transportation, it is counted as offence. The shopkeeper will have to pay a fine of Rs 2000.
