Cheap vs expensive: Are expensive shampoos worth buying?

The primary function of a shampoo is to clean the hair. It is a detergent that removes oil (sebum) and buildup from the scalp and strands of the hair. 

Expensive brands generally have more sleek and polished packaging. They have similar ingredients to cheap shampoos and coat the hair to make it appear silky and manageable. 

Several experts believe that there is not much difference between expensive and cheap shampoos. The luxurious one might have some additional ingredients, but both do the same job. 

The best way to choose is according to your hair type and budget. If you have dry and frizzy hair, go for shampoos with more silicone and salicylic acid for oily hair and scalps. 

Expensive ones might have additional ingredients that make your hair feel nicer, but the overall function of cleaning your hair and scalp is fulfilled by both types of shampoos.
