On this festival of Lohri and Makar Sankranti, invite goodness to your home by indulging in the sweetness of kheer.
Half kg rice
1 litre milk
Half cup jaggery
7-8 cardamom
Fistful of raisins
12-15 chopped almonds
10-15 chopped cashews
Take a pot, and heat milk in it. Next, grind the jaggery into powder. Alternatively, you can use brown sugar made of jaggery.
After washing and soaking the rice for half an hour, mix it into boiling milk. Stir continuously to avoid forming lumps. Reduce the heat, when the rice and milk thicken.
In a separate pot, boil jaggery with water. When the jaggery dissolves completely in the water, turn off the heat.
Add cashews, almonds, raisins to the kheer, and continue cooking for a few minutes. Add jaggery mixture to it and stir continuously. Turn off the heat, when the kheer looks ready.
