At the Paris Olympics on July 28, 22-year-old Manu Bhaker made history by clinching a bronze medal in the women's 10m air pistol final.
She is the first Indian woman shooter to win an Olympic medal.
Manu, born on February 18, 2002, in Goriya, Jhajjar, Haryana, secured third place in the women's 10m air pistol final at the Chateauroux Shooting Center in Paris, France.
Manu's father, Ram Kishan Bhaker, is a chief engineer in the Merchant Navy. He invested Rs 1,50,000 to support Manu's training in competitive shooting.
Manu Bhaker lives with her father her mother, Sumedha Bhaker, and her brother, Akhil. She attended LSR, Delhi University.
In 2017, Manu won her first international competition by claiming silver at the Asian Junior Championships. She secured nine gold medals at the 2017 National Games held in Kerala.
She won gold at the Youth Olympics in 2018 and at the ISSF Junior World Championships in 2021. In 2020, she was honoured with the prestigious Arjuna Award for Shooting.
Manu made history by winning bronze at the Paris Olympics 2024 on July 28. At the Tokyo Olympics 2020, she represented India in shooting but did not advance to the final.
Manu Bhaker's coach is Jaspal Rana, who, along with every Indian, is proud of her achievements.
