Ghazal Alagh, the Co-Founder of Mamaearth, established the company with a desire to make chemical-free products available in the market.
She completed her education from Haryana and earned a Modern Art degree from the New York Academy.
In an interview, she shared that she used to earn a meagre salary of only Rs 1200.
Expecting to become a mother that same year, she sought chemical-free baby products for her child. This inspired the idea to create safe and natural products for newborns.
With an initial investment of Rs 25 lakh, the company made 5 products and has since expanded to over 500 products.
She received little support from her family but did not give up on her entrepreneurial journey.
Mamaearth, Asia’s sole Made Safe certified brand, gained worldwide recognition in just five years.
Ghazal Alagh gives credit of her success to her husband and her children. Her motivation to start a company was born out of desire to ensure the safety of her children.
Mamaearth’s annual turnover exceeds Rs 100 crore. Ghazal Alagh’s net worth is more than Rs 50 crore.
