In the year 1907, Vadilal Gandhi opened a soda shop in Gujarat. The modest beginnings soon turned into success, and Vadilal soda was introduced to attract customers.
With the increasing success, Vadilal Gandhi launched the first ice cream outlet in the city in 1926.
Running a soda shop and ice cream outlet was a challenge. Vadilal Gandhi passed the business to his son Ranchod Gandhi, who imported an ice cream making machine from Germany.
In the 1970s, Vadilal Ice Cream witnessed a peak in popularity with 10 outlets in Gujarat. The success was attributed to Ranchod Lal’s sons, Ramchandra and Lakshman.
Presently, the fifth generation of Vadilal family is running the business successfully. The brand enjoys significant popularity in various countries.
As per reports, Vadilal’s market capitalization in 2023 was at Rs 1,933 crore.
