On Thursday, Prime Minister Modi joined the golden jubilee celebrations of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation.
PM Modi inaugurated Amul’s cheese, chocolate, and ice cream manufacturing plants at the event. These plants have been constructed at the cost of Rs 1200 crore.
PM Modi in his speech highlighted the hardships of milk farmers. Farmers faced difficulties due to intermediaries who bought milk at low prices and sold it at higher rates.
To find a solution, farmers reached out to local leader Tribhuvandas Patel and approached Sardar Vallabhai Patel to establish a Dairy Cooperative Union.
District Cooperative Society was established in Anand, which consisted of small farmers of Gujarat. This marked the beginning of milk delivery service.
The dedicated efforts of the farmers yielded positive results. Subsequently, cooperative societies grew in numbers. Presently, this committee boasts over 36 lakh farmers.
Amul brand is managed by the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation. On Thursday, the brand organized a Golden Jubilee event at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
